Background

Since the first film was shot in Almería in 1952, the province has been the setting for at least 400 films and an unknown number of music videos and television commercials, most of them international productions. However, no comprehensive list has ever been compiled. For this reason, the CDCA is compiling, digitising and preserving digital data on the history of film production in the province of Almería (Spain). Many of the items come from personal collections, especially family photographs, and others have been created by the CDCA from recordings of oral interviews. This information is compiled as a testimony to social and cultural relations, covering areas such as work, film production and consumption in cinemas and open-air venues, etc.

The graph also includes the town council's museum collection, which is managed at the Casa del Cine cultural centre.

The ontology of the graph is based on the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (CRM), as well as extensions of the CRM and others.

The project is structured under the Very Small GLAM concept, created by LaOficina Producciones Culturales, which offers a set of resources and practices for small institutions dedicated to cultural heritage.

Main Functions

The main objective is to collect and collate data on audiovisual productions in the province of Almería. The data includes inventories of productions and related elements, such as professionals, locations, objects, and any type of document related to the history of film production in Almería. These documents may be digitised versions of historical printed documents, recordings of oral interviews, etc. In addition, work is being carried out to preserve the data in the digitised collection.
